Frequently Asked Questions
Is Misfit Manor a 5013c Rescue?

No, we are not a 5013c Rescue. My husband and I are just two people with a soft spot for dogs that face special challenges. Our personal home is named Misfit Manor and the dogs that live at Misfit Manor are our dogs. We do not do any intake of dogs from others nor do we adopt out any of our dogs. Bret and I care for our dogs and fund the bills for our dogs entirely by ourselves.
Very often we get asked how people can support what we do. Importantly, we DO NOT take donations. However, there are a lot of ways you can support our dogs if you want to! Here are some ideas:
- Patronize our Misfit Manor Shop!
- Follow our blog and interact with us!
- Tell other dog lovers about us…especially if they are looking for some Pawty Supplies or artwork!
- Follow Misfit Manor on Instagram
- Follow Misfit Manor on Pinterest for all sorts of Pawty and dog lover content!
- Send a gift to one of our dogs from our Amazon Wish List!
- You can buy the Misfits a dog treat for $1 on our BUYMEACOOKIE page!
- Always consider adoption before adding a pet to your family!
How much experience do you have as an online seller?

I have been selling on line since 2010. I started out selling my handmade cards and some art work on ebay just to “see what would happen”. I was shocked when I sold my first painting and was completely tickled that someone thousands of miles away could find and buy something I made in my home…with neither of us ever leaving the house. Since my first sale in 2010 I have been hooked on selling online. I have sold and shipped items to every state! I now sell on multiple platforms; Etsy, my own store, and wholesale. My item selection has evolved over the years but today I sell my handmade Pawty Supplies, my artwork and gifts for dog moms. I have over 1,000 five star reviews on Etsy.
I LOVE selling online! If anyone tells you that you can’t get quality products and customer service on line they just haven’t been shopping in the right places! I make and sell products to MAKE PEOPLE AND DOGS HAPPY…that is my number one goal! Great customer service is a key part of that goal. When you receive a package from me I want you to feel like your are getting a present from a friend!
My husband and I also own and operate four vacation rentals properties adjacent to our home here in Georgetown. This is another business we built online. Today we market our rentals on our own website and VRBO/Homeaway. We have earned over 700 five star reviews for our rentals; we were AirBnB Superhosts 24 quarters in a row when we worked with AirBnB and are currently VRBO Premiere Partners.
What if I have a question about my order?

As a fully self employed person my customers are so important to me. If you have a question about your order…just ask. You can email me at; therescuemama@gmail.com or call/text me at 502-542-3252. If I don’t answer my phone I am either busy with the dogs or out in studio so leave me a message and I will get right back to you.
Please do not call me in regards to an animal you are trying to surrender. Our household is fragile; most of our dogs are either old, handicap and/or immune suppressed so we do not do any intake of dogs or cats here under any circumstances. Please call your local 5013c Rescues.
When will I get my order?
I make and process in stock items very quickly (typically in 1 business day Monday – Friday). If you are ordering custom pawty supplies it usually takes me 2-3 business days to make them. Shipping times depend on how far you are from me. I am shipping from Georgetown, KY. I can give you an estimated shipping time based on USPS’s forcasted arrival. However, I cannot guarantee shipper performance.
How will you ship my items?
I ship my items USPS First Class Mail.
I package my items in sturdy and waterproof packaging. I ship everything with tracking and will notify you when your order ships and send the tracking number.
Do you sell your Pawty supplies wholesale?

Yes! I sell some of my items wholesale. I also have made custom pawty wholesale designs for large customers. Wholesale discounts begin at a quantity of 100 pieces (of the same piece). If you are interested in wholesaling any of my items please email me at therescuemama@gmail.com
Who makes all of your items?

I do. I make every single item I sell in my studio here at the Manor. I typically do all of my production in the late afternoons and evenings.
My husband, Bret, helps me with packing and shipping and he does all of my post office deliveries.
Do you take returns?
Yes, I accept returns on stock items. I do not accept returns on any custom items. If you would like to return your stock items I am happy to issue a refund provided the items are returned to me in the condition they were shipped in. Buyers are responsible for paying return shipping. I will not issue a refund until the items have arrived back here.
Do you accept cancellations?
Yes, I am happy to accept a cancellation of your order as long as it has not already shipped. Please keep in mind that I process and ship my in stock orders quickly (typically in 1 day). I will not issue a cancellation if your order has already shipped, however, you can still return it once it arrives.
What if my items arrived damaged?
I have been selling online for 10 years. It really is not very common to have issues with items being damaged in the mail (and I pack them very carefully). However, it does happen. If your items arrive damaged please take a photo of the items and the packaging and email those photos to me right away. I will file a claim with the shipper and send you new items.
Do you take orders for custom paintings?

Yes! I do take commissions for custom paintings. However, I only take 12 commissions per year and I am usually booked for the coming year by March/April.
I price my paintings based on the size of the canvas you want me to work with and the number of subjects you want in the painting.
My style of painting is very distinct. I am not a portrait artist! You can look at samples of my work in my Art Gallery.
Do you have two websites?
No, I only have one website. Ten years ago I started my blog; http://www.therescuemama.com. I have been writing on this blog for all 10 years. When we moved to Kentucky in 2015 we named our home Misfit Manor and started titling our blog posts “Misfit Manor diary”…and it just seemed to stick. Eventually I added the url http://www.misfitmanordogs which points to my original blog (www.thresecuemama.com). We use the handle Misfit Manor or Misfit Manor Dogs on all our of our social media and it is the title of our blog and store now.
